The Designated Institutional Official (DIO) supports the scholarly mission of Spectrum Health by overseeing our graduate medical education (GME) programs, as well as strategically supporting all facets of medical education. This includes support of the Spectrum Health Medical Group (SHMG) Academic Chairs, the Office of Medical Education (OME), GME Program Directors/faculty and any Spectrum Health affiliated medical education programs, in conjunction with OME leadership.
The DIO is fully engaged with the SHMG, Spectrum Health medical staff and independently employed providers who participate in our academic endeavors, processes and practices for education. As a Spectrum Health leader, the DIO has responsibility for oversight and administration of all ACGME-accredited programs and is responsible for assuring compliance with ACGME Institutional Requirements. The DIO must review all program information forms and any correspondence or documents submitted to the ACGME. The DIO provides oversight and direction for the new program applications, and has responsibility for any ACGME required reports. The DIO, in conjunction with the OME, will work to foster inclusion and diversity within Spectrum Health's educational programs.
*Basic Qualifications:*
Education - Medical Degree (MD or DO)
Experience - Prior experience with medical student education programs in a major teaching academic medical center. Prior experience as a residency program director in a major teaching academic medical center and prior experience in the analysis of standardized training regimens for the purpose of publication or promotion at the national level.(ie, ACGME)
